Japan Day Düsseldorf/NRW celebrates German-Japanese friendship along the Rhine promenade. Between tea ceremonies, manga and street food, cosplayers and families throng the riverbank while stages bring taiko drums and J-pop. In the evening, one of the largest fireworks displays in Europe crowns the festival and sets the sky above the Rhine glowing in a thousand colors.

The largest funfair on the Rhine transforms the Oberkassel Rheinwiesen into a giant fairground in mid-July. Hosted by the St. Sebastianus marksmen's guild, it draws around four million visitors with a Ferris wheel, rides and beer tents. To finish, the great fireworks display is mirrored in the river and bathes the Old Town skyline opposite in warm light.
