Brauerei Schumacher
The Brauerei Schumacher is regarded as Duesseldorf's oldest surviving house brewery and brews the tradition-rich Schumacher Alt. Unlike the more bitter Old Town beers, it is mild, malty and especially drinkable. The original house on Oststrasse in Stadtmitte impresses with high rooms, dark wood and a dignified, slightly bourgeois ambience. With it the kitchen serves solid Rhineland classics that accompany the beer perfectly.
Mild-Malty Schumacher Alt
The Schumacher Alt differs from the more bitter Old Town beers in its mild, malty character and its pronounced drinkability. As the oldest still-working house brewery in the city, the house tends the recipe with great care. The beer comes freshly tapped to the table and is, to many, a particularly accessible entry into the world of Duesseldorf Altbier.
Rhineland Classics
The kitchen relies on solid Rhineland classics that accompany the beer ideally. Sauerbraten, schnitzel, pork knuckle and hearty cold platters are on the menu, prepared with down-to-earth quality. The portions are generously measured and suit the tradition-conscious character of the house, which sets store by dependable home cooking.
A Dignified Original House
The original house on Oststrasse in Stadtmitte impresses with high rooms, dark wood and a dignified, slightly bourgeois ambience that sets it apart from the noisy Old Town. The location lies a little away from the greatest bustle, but is well connected. Unlike in many brewpubs, a reservation is advisable here, especially for larger groups and at weekends.
