Rhine Tower

At 240.5 meters, the Rhine Tower is the tallest structure in Düsseldorf and in all of North Rhine-Westphalia and an unmistakable landmark of the city. Built from 1979 to 1982 as a telecommunications and observation tower, it rises far above the Rhine promenade at the transition from the MedienHafen to the Old Town. At a height of around 170 meters, an observation deck and a revolving restaurant offer a breathtaking all-round view over the city, the Rhine and as far as the Bergisches Land. On the shaft façade glows the "Lichtzeitpegel", one of the largest decimal light clocks in the world, which displays the time in points of light.

The tallest structure in the city

At 240.5 meters tall, the Rhine Tower towers above everything in Düsseldorf and is at the same time the tallest structure in North Rhine-Westphalia. Erected between 1979 and 1982 as a telecommunications tower, it has long become one of the city's most important landmarks. Its slender concrete shaft marks the transition from the modern MedienHafen to the Rhine promenade and shapes the city's silhouette from almost every vantage point.

View & revolving restaurant

At a height of around 170 meters lie an observation deck and a revolving restaurant that slowly turns about its own axis. From here the view reaches far over the city, the Rhine, the MedienHafen and, in clear weather, as far as the Bergisches Land. While the restaurant rotates, the whole city slowly passes by the window - an impressive experience that combines enjoyment and panorama in a unique way.

The Lichtzeitpegel

A special feature of the Rhine Tower is the "Lichtzeitpegel" on its shaft façade, one of the largest decimal light clocks in the world. From a chain of lighting elements, the initiated can read off the exact time, if they understand the unusual display system. For everyone else, the column of light glowing through the night is simply a fascinating eye-catcher that keeps the tower unmistakable even after dark.
