Robert's Bistro

Robert's Bistro at the edge of the Media Harbour is a Duesseldorf institution and is considered one of the most authentic French bistros in the city. In the cramped taproom hung with posters and knick-knacks, things are tight and lively, just like a Parisian corner bistro. French classics such as bouillabaisse, entrecôte and tart come to the table. It is not possible to reserve, which is part of the house's cult status and regularly causes queues.

French Bistro Classics

Robert's Bistro serves French classics as you know them from a real Parisian corner bistro. Bouillabaisse, entrecôte, rabbit and homemade tarts are on the handwritten menu and are prepared with care and honest craft. The cuisine stays unadulterated and down-to-earth, without fashionable gimmicks, and that is precisely what makes the lasting appeal of the house.

Tight, Full and Cult

The taproom is cramped, hung with posters, photos and knick-knacks, and conveys the feeling of sitting in the middle of a French bistro. Things are lively and dense, strangers quickly sit close together, which makes the special atmosphere. This unaffected closeness is part of the house's cult status and is expressly valued by regulars.

No Reservations

A special feature is that it is not possible to reserve, which regularly causes queues outside the door, especially at the weekend. Anyone wanting to visit the bistro should plan in patience and some waiting time. The place lies at the edge of the Media Harbour in Unterbilk and is easily reached; the visit combines well with a walk through the harbour quarter.
